Classroom of the Elite Anime Story explained
Classroom of the Elite is a an anime adaptation of a Japanese Light Novel Series written by Syougo Kinugasa. The story follows a group of students at the prestigious Tokyo Advanced High school which boasts off of producing the most brilliant and excellent youth in the country. The school operates on a point – based system, in which students are ranked and awarded based on their academic and athletic performance and are given privileges accordingly.
The main character, Kiyotaka Ayanokōji, is a result of an undercover Nurturing program known as the White Room where children from a young age are trained and educated to achieve the highest place in any and every position in a society and in the process are devoid of unnecessary emotions. Kiyotaka is referred as the Masterpiece of the White Room and he was a part of the 4th Generation White Room batch.
The story begins with Kiyotaka joining the Elite school and his attempts in hiding his true identity and capabilities. He enters the school with a perfect minimum passing score required and continues to act as an average student. As the school begins to test the students and increase difficulties in the academic and athletic standards of students, Kiyotaka eventually begins to take action in order for his class to win.
The school categorizes classes on the basis of skills ranking from highest to lowest as A, B, C and Class D. Kiyotaka starts off as a Class D student. The school also conducts various events, tests and examinations on the basis of which a Class as a whole can be promoted and replace a superior class.
The entire story of Classroom of the Elite follows Kiyotaka’s manipulation and mass controlling from the shadows as he assist his Class D to rise to Class A. We can also see other interesting geniuses going up against Kiyotaka and also the infamous White Room’s 5th Generation students.

Classroom of the Elite is an anime adaption produced by Seiji Kishi and Lerche animation studios. The anime is licensed and distributed by Crunchyroll and Funimation.
Season 1 of the Anime aired from July 12, 2017 to September 27, 2017 and consisted 12 episodes. Season 2 of the Anime aired from July 4, 2022 to September 26, 2022 and consisted 13 episodes.
Season 3 of Classroom of the Elite is ongoing currently with the first episode released on January 3, 2024 and the Last episode to release on March 27, 2024 and will also contain 13 episodes. The latest episode released was episode no. 6 on February 7, 2024. All the episodes can be viewed on Disney+ Hotstar and Crunchyroll.

Classroom of the Elite Year 1 Details
Year 1 of Classroom of the Elite follows Kiyotaka attending the school and quickly realizing that the students in Class D are treated poorly by their peers and teachers. He also discovers that there are hidden agendas and scheming among the students, as they all compete to achieve higher points and advance to a superior class level.
Kiyotaka becomes friends with Suzune Horikita, a classmate who is also determined to rise through the ranks, and the two of them team up to try to improve their standing in the school. Along the way, they encounter a variety of other characters who are allies and adversaries like Kikyo Kushida. The volume also introduces the concept of using students’ points as a currency that students can earn through various tests and activities and use to buy literally anything and everything within the school.
Season – 3 of the anime will cover the remaining part of the Year 1 Light Novel. By the end of the year, Class – D is promoted to Class – C and a clash between Kiyotaka and Class – A’s mastermind Arisu Sakayanagi takes place resulting in Sakayanagi’s plan to get Kiyotaka expelled failure.
Classroom of the Elite Year 2 Explained
If Classroom of the Elite gets renewed for a 4th season it will include the Year 2 of the Light Novel. Year 2 of Classroom of the Elite begins with the students continuing to compete for higher rankings in the school. Kiyotaka and Suzune work together to try to improve their standing, and Kiyotaka also forms a strategic alliance with the wealthy and influential Soichiro Arima.
The volume introduces two new students who are later on revealed as The White Room’s 5th Generation product Takuya Yagamiwhose results in the White Room were second only to Kiyotaka. Another White Room student revealed is Ichika Amasawa, who unlike Takuya, worships Kiyotaka.
The volume also introduces the concept of “culture festivals,” in which the students must work together to put on a large-scale event. The culture festival becomes a source of tension among the students, as they compete to outdo one another and prove their worth.
In addition to the academic and competitive elements of the story, the volume also delves into the personal lives and relationships of the characters. Kiyotaka and Suzune’s friendship deepens, and they work together to support each other and help each other achieve their goals. An expulsion of Airi Sakura, is made this year in Class – C and Kiyotaka alters his plan to expel Kikyo Kushida.
Kiyotaka ends up betraying Horikita and his Class – C at the end of the Volume – 6 to join Class – A. As the volume comes to a close, the students prepare for their final exams and the future uncertainly of what their rankings will be.
