Inside Out 2 Review:
The 2016’s Oscar Winning film Inside Out is returning with a sequel in 2024 with new characters, developments and a more mature plot.
Inside Out 2 is an upcoming animated movie by Pixar studios focusing on human emotions. The plot of Inside Out revolves around a young girl named Riley and manifestations of her emotions. As Riley grows and encounters new scenarios and feelings, she gains new emotions. The film provides us an insight of how human emotions and feelings would function if they can be materialized into living things.
The plot of the prequel Inside Out comprised of an 11 year old Riley and the internal conflicts between her emotions Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust and Fear. Joy took the lead among the emotions signifying a humans most desired and favorable emotion. As Riley grew up and underwent various development, the emotions inside her also grew stronger and reliable.
Inside Out 2 will pick up the story of Riley as she approaches her teenage year and faces new feelings. The film will feature struggles for Riley as well as her original emotions to adapt to the new emotions which are mostly negative and impulsive. As Riley grows she will develop and understanding and acceptance towards her new emotions as well.
Inside Out 2 new emotions
Inside Out 2 includes introduction of new emotions as Riley turns 13 and experience Puberty and encounters the teenage feelings and growth. She meets new people and changes socially eventually generating new emotions.
Anxiety– The new character symbolizes a teenager’s anxiousness. Anxiety is voiced by Maya Hawke and is an orange colored impulsive and insecure character. Anxiety arrives in Riley’s head with many suitcases signifying the emotional baggage that comes with handling anxiety as a teenager. Anxiety’s apologetic behavior can be seen in her introduction and her insecurity to give a good first impression to the original emotions.
Ennui – Ennui means the lack of interest in the daily life. The idea of boredom, disinterest, and lack of excitement is something that many teenagers commonly start to feel as more responsibilities and duties fall on their shoulders. Ennui settling into Riley’s head will be a dark blue/purple character and looks completely out of energy and life with no enthusiasm. Ennui’s face perfectly embodies that sense of boredom, lifelessness and indignation.
Embarrassment– The greenish colored character with stars in her eyes and a terrified face will be Embarrassment who will most likely steal the spotlight by avoiding the spotlight as one of Inside Out 2’s newbies emotion. Teenage years are most likely to bring embarrassment and self awareness in Riley’s life and her becoming a lot more people – oriented and self – conscious. Embarrassment can be viewed as her strict appearance and presentation in front of others.
Envy– Envy is shown as a sparkly pink character. Envy will signify jealousy, resentment, possessiveness, rivalry and other common teenage emotional feelings. Envy can be viewed as a cold persona looking character with feelings bottled up inside similar to a teenager who internally stores up her enviousness towards other.
These new emotions are surely to cause internal character and behavioral changes in Riley and the film will follow her resolving these issue. With the new emotions taking over, the original Joy is more likely to be less needed by Riley due to the social changes in her teenage years.
Inside Out 2 Cast not returning:
Amy Poehler who voiced Joy, Phillis Smith who voiced Sadness and Lewis Black who voiced Anger will all return to reprise their roles from the first movie, while Tony Hale will be replacing Bill Hader as Fear and Liza Lapira will be replacing Mindy Kaling as Disgust.
Why are Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling not in Inside Out 2 ?
Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling will not be returning as Fear and Disgust in the “Inside Out” sequel due to Salary disputes. Their replacements have been met by Tony Hale and Liza Lapira, respectively.
The two not returning for the sequel is reportedly due to contractual issues and preferential treatment. Reportedly, Amy Poehler was offered 5 million dollars to reprise her role as Joy, while the rest of the main cast were allegedly offered 100,000 dollars only with no bonuses. Black and Smith agreed to the contract however Kaling and Hader refused and thus replaced.
Tobey Maguire and Tom Cruise in Inside Out 2?
A post on twitter states that Tobey Maguire will play the ‘Gambling Addiction’ Emotion and another post states that Tom Cruise will voice the ‘Adrenaline’ in Inside Out 2. However, both these were posted on a parody film account @DisbussingFilm which clearly states in its bio that this account is completely unreliable and provides imaginary information.
Tobey Maguire and Tom cruise are NOT in Inside Out 2.
